About the orchestra
The brass and reed band of Cziffra György School of Music and Arts was formed in 1994 by conductor Sándor Hoós.
The porpuse of its formation was to create opportunities for the students, who received musical education, to show their instrumental skill, to get them acquainted with the experience of making music together and also to make them observe the variety of brass music.
Pilisvörösvár is a German minority (Swabian) settlement ,where the brass music tradition has always been fairly strong. In addition to getting acquainted with traditional brass music, our students have the opportunity to play quality light music, traditional marches, polkas, classical music transcriptions and pieces of music composed for bass concerts as well.
Certainly, all the learnt pieces of music have regularly been performed in our concerts. It is important for us to propagate the traditions of Hungarian brass music not only in our ambiance but also in other countries. Therefore our band systematically participates in several festivals at home and abroad as well.

We do our best to promote Hungarian brass music in countries with a very different musical tradition from ours. Our repertoir mainly contains pieces by Hungarian composers or Hungarian classical music transcriptions but we certainly play symphonical music transcriptions and sound tracks of famous films too.
Since our country joined the EU it has become very important for us to promote Hungarian culture and music in as many countries as possible. We would like to help our country to become well known in the community she belongs to.
In 2005 we founded a non-profit association "A Tempo" in order to help our band function. Our cooperation with the "Supernova" dance group has considerably increased our artistic level.
